The Best Fall Break Activity for Atlanta Kids (That's Not a Screen)

Fall break is one of those weeks that can go one of two ways: your kids spend it glued to a screen, or they spend it doing something they'll actually talk about for months.

If you're an Atlanta parent looking for the second option — we've got you.

RollerKids Fall Break Camp at RollerFit LLC runs October 12–16, 2026, and it's exactly what it sounds like: five days of skating, fitness, music, and genuine fun for kids ages 5–12. No experience needed. All skill levels welcome.

Here's everything you need to know.

What Is RollerKids Fall Break Camp?

RollerKids is RollerFit LLC's youth skating program, led by Coach Glo — Gloria Downs, founder of RollerFit LLC and one of Atlanta's most trusted skating instructors.

Fall Break Camp is a week-long intensive that gives kids a real, structured skating experience in a safe, high-energy environment. It's not just free skate time. Every day is intentional: skill-building, fitness games, music, and the kind of confidence that comes from learning something new and actually getting good at it.

Whether your child has never put on a pair of skates or already knows the basics, this camp meets them where they are and builds from there.

What Kids Will Do Each Day

Each day of camp is packed with:

  • Skating instruction — Coach Glo teaches proper form, balance, stopping, turning, and progressively more advanced skills as the week goes on
  • Fitness games and drills — activities designed to build coordination, core strength, and agility (while feeling like pure play)
  • Music and free skate — because skating to great music is one of life's simple joys, and kids deserve to experience it
  • Community and connection — small group sizes mean kids actually get to know each other and build real friendships over the week

By Friday, most kids leave with noticeably better skating skills, a lot more confidence, and a strong desire to come back.

Why Roller Skating Is One of the Best Activities for Kids

We're a little biased — but the research backs us up.

Roller skating is a full-body workout that builds balance, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness without feeling like exercise. For kids, it's especially valuable because:

  • It builds proprioception — the body's sense of where it is in space — which supports athletic development across every sport
  • It's genuinely fun, which means kids stay engaged and keep moving without needing to be pushed
  • It builds confidence — learning to skate requires persistence, and every small breakthrough (first time rolling without holding the wall, first time stopping cleanly) is a real win kids can feel
  • It's social — skating is almost always done with other people, which makes it a natural environment for kids to practice communication, encouragement, and teamwork

And unlike a lot of structured youth sports, skating has no "bench." Every kid is moving, every kid is learning, every kid is part of the action.

Camp Pricing — Three Options for Every Family

We designed the pricing to be flexible so more families can participate:

Early Bird Full Week — $225 The best value. Register for all five days at the early bird rate while spots are available. This is the most popular option and fills up first.

Full Week — $249 Standard full-week registration. All five days, all the fun, all the skill-building.

Daily Drop-In — $60/day Can't commit to the full week? No problem. Choose any day (or days) that work for your family. Just register in advance so we can hold your child's spot.

All options include access to rental skates if your child doesn't have their own.

Who Is This Camp For?

RollerKids Fall Break Camp is for kids ages 5–12 of all skill levels.

Complete beginners — kids who have never skated before — are absolutely welcome. Coach Glo is experienced at teaching first-timers, and the camp environment is supportive and patient. Your child will not be the only one learning from scratch.

Kids who already skate — kids with some experience will be challenged to level up their skills, work on technique, and push past what they already know.

The camp is intentionally mixed-level because one of the best things about skating is watching more experienced skaters and being inspired to try new things. That peer learning is part of what makes the week so effective.
